Interlaken, Switzerland: Chalet Elisabeth Home Design I Visit When Traveling

Interlaken, Switzerland: Chalet Elisabeth Home Design I Visit When Traveling - you can see the home design when i traveling to other country. My husband seems to have a knack for finding us really great places to stay that are not only affordable but beautiful, too.  He really went above and beyond with this gorgeous little Chalet Elisabeth in the mountains just outside Interlaken, Switzerland.

Not only is the drive up gorgeous, but the front entrance is a little teaser into this charming and rustic retreat.

Inside, the furnishings are simple but tastefully chosen by the very endearing landlords who live adjacent and were super helpful in answering all of our questions about where to eat, shop, and sightsee in the area.

And while the cost is less than $100/night (an absolute STEAL for this area) it actually has a million dollar view of the quiet mountains and lake just beyond.  Imagine almost no noise except the occasional tractor on it’s way to plow a field or the soft mewing of the landlord’s new kitten.  Country living at it’s best, though only a 15 minute drive to downtown Interlaken.

I was immediately taken with the stunning hand carved wood furniture throughout the house and the quirky low ceilings and wood beams.  None of the walls are quite straight and somehow that just made me love it even more.

Hand made furniture is quite a popular trade in this part of Switzerland and the shops are filled with one-of-a-kind gems such as these.  I would love a set, but somehow I don’t think they will fit into our already stuffed european sized mini van.  Maybe next time, though!

Now, it is time for us to hit the road yet again and head to Lake Como.  So far we have been to Germany, France, and Switzerland, so now we are ready to add Italy to the list!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to sharing so much more with you from our European Road Trip!

PS I wrote an article about how to make your own Rubber Band Stamps for A Subtle Revelry this week if you want to try your hand at a new technique!
